Kaizer Chiefs have some hugely positive injury news to share with their legions of fans across South Africa this weekend.

Chiefs welcome back Potsane and Matlou soon

In early October, Chiefs issued a statement that winger Tebogo Potsane and midfielder George Matlou would return to action in November. They’re on schedule according to an updated statement:

“Another player progressing well is George Matlou. He has started running and doing some ball work and we are looking at a November return for him.

“Tebogo Potsane went for a scan which showed some ligament damage [in his ankle], so we expect him to be out for around three weeks.”

Chiefs vs Sundowns is set in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals

Kaizer Chiefs’ reward for thumping SuperSport 4-0 in the Carling Knockout is a quarter-final clash with the mighty Mamelodi Sundowns. This showdown takes place at FNB Stadium on Saturday 02 November at 18:00. Don’t miss it! Meanwhile, Richards Bay met Cape Town City earlier that day at the King Zwelithini. On Sunday, TS Galaxy hosts Orlando Pirates’ conquerers Magesi at Mbombela. Marumo Gallants meet holders Stellenbosch in the late game.

Chiefs to put another nail into Hunt’s coffin?

Before the Carling Knockout weekend, Chiefs meet Matsatsantsa in the league. Changes will be kept to a minimum after their 4-0 drubbing of SuperSport in the cup. Edson Castillo could come into the engine room to replace Samkelo Zwane, although manager Nasreddine Nabi has been singing the 22-year-old schemer’s praises. Ranga Chivaviro has scored in three games on the bounce and will lead the line. Chivaviro, Yusuf Maart, Ashley Du Preez and the evergreen Gaston Sirino were the goal-scorers last weekend. Chiefs and Matsatsantsa lock horns on Saturday 26 October at 17:30. SuperSport are bang out of form. After their defeat to Pirates, SuperSport have a dismal four points after five league outings in the 2024-2025 Betway Premiership season. Will Hunt still be at the helm by the end of this season?
