Kaizer Chiefs have two suspensions ahead of their Betway Premiership clash against Cape Town City at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

Amakhosi will play the match goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef. Petersen was given a straight red card during Chiefs’ 3-1 win over Stellenbosch FC, while Youssef accumulated his fourth booking of the season in the same game.

With Bruce Bvuma set to start, Petersen’s suspension won’t be felt by Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday. Amakhosi will be looking for a win against City after losing their first round match played at the beginning of the year in Cape Town.

Before Saturday’s Nedbank Cup match, Chiefs beat Magesi 1-0 at FNB Stadium in their last league encounter. The Citizens, on the other hand, are very desperate as they have not won in eight matches, with their last win coming on 17 January.

Kaizer Chiefs looking to improve their log standings

On the log Chiefs are in eighth position with 28 points after 20 matches and the Citizens are 10th with 22 points after playing 21 games.

Amakhosi will need to pick up maximum points from the two home games as they want to ensure that they collect as many as possible to improve their position in the log standings.

Kaizer Chiefs could welcome the likes of Edson Castillo and Wandile Dube, who return from injury. Amakhosi are currently in the Nedbank Cup semi-final having defeated Stellenbosch FC 3-1 in the last eight this past weekend. Nasreddine Nabi’s men could meet rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the last four.
