Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates target ruled out for the season!

Kaizer Chiefsand Orlando Pirates are both searching for a striker and this chase has been made no secret.

Both Chiefs and Pirates had set their sights on adding a quality marksman to their ranks in the last window.

Chiefs and Pirates linked to Nguse

There were even some names who were linked to both Soweto giants in that process. The likes of Ashley Cupido, Andy Boyeli, Freddy Kouablan and Lungelo Nguse. Two players from the list ended up moving, but neither to Chiefs or Pirates. Cupido stayed in the Western Cape, moving from Cape Town Spurs to Stellenbosch FC. Boyeli did eventually come to South Africa but joined Sekhukhune United instead. The other two stayed put at Simba SC and Golden Arrowsrespectively.

The links never stopped between Nguse as well as Chiefs and Pirates, however. Just recently, it was claimed that the Buccaneers were already making moves to beat their rivals to his services. But now, it seems very unlikely that deal will happen. According to Sportswire, the lanky striker has been ruled out for the rest of the season!

Now ruled out for the season

“We spoke with the chairlady because there are a few areas where we need to strengthen and we have looked at where we can strengthen. We need few players to strengthen the team because Lungelo Nguse is out with a meniscus and the ACL so he will be out for the rest of the season. So, it means the striker’s position we have to strengthen or get another winger. But I believe our team is dynamic enough (to carry on playing without getting a striker) because the profiling of our players can play anywhere.” Arrows co-coach Musa Bilankulu confirmed to the same publication.

Bilankulu then emphasised the need to replace Nguse, with the Chiefs and Pirates target playing a crucial role.

Arrows looking to sign a replacement.

“But it is only upfront where we need to get someone of Nguse’s ability who can bring the team forward with a hold-up play because we still have Knox Mutizwa, we still have Bongani Cele outside, we still have Moyela Libamba. We need to get one more to push Ryan Moon and help the team going forward.” Bilankulu continued.
