The robbery occurred when Parker, who recently transitioned to a coaching role at TS Galaxy, returned to his parked car at the shopping centre. Upon arrival, he discovered that the window of his vehicle had been smashed, and several personal items were missing, including his laptop, cellphone, iPad, and even his tracksuit.

Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, a spokesperson for the Gauteng police, confirmed the theft, stating: “Police can confirm that the victim parked his vehicle at a shopping mall in Soweto. When he came back, he realised that his car window was broken and his belongings, including a cellphone, laptop, an iPad, and a tracksuit, were missing. No arrests have been made, yet.”

Former Chiefs’ striker transition to coaching

This robbery comes at a pivotal time in Bernard Parker’s life. After a serious injury in October 2023, which forced him to retire from playing professional football, Parker embraced a new role as a coach. He was appointed head coach of the TS Galaxy DStv Diski Challenge team at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
