Thandikhaya Magayiyana, known as Joliza Bhacasoul, has won the uShuni Womhlaba singing competition season 1, celebrating South Africa’s rich musical talent.

Joliza Bhacasoul hails from the Eastern Cape, where his love for traditional music began at a young age.

His performances throughout the competition demonstrated his deep connection to South African music. As reported by SABC 1, he often paid homage to the legends who had paved the way before him.

He expressed his gratitude to the publication, stating, “This is a dream come true.”

“I am so grateful for this opportunity to share my music with South Africa. I will continue to honour our musical heritage and make my mark as an artist. This might just be the end of my career as a school bus driver as I embark on my journey as a professional musician.”

Joliza plans to use his newfound platform to continue promoting traditional music and inspire young musicians who share his passion.

Joliza walks away with a cash prize of R500 000 and gains access to career-changing opportunities, including a recording deal from Gallo Music and management support that will help him launch his music career.

The runner-up, Lindo Jay Music, received R300 000. While Mthobisi Gudazi stage name Gudaazi emerged as the third winner walking away with R200 000.
