Cape Town’s food scene just got a taste of Japan, and food lovers are already lining up. A new Japanese-inspired restaurant has set up shop in the Mother City, bringing with it the delicate flavours, artistry, and soul-warming comfort of authentic Japanese cuisine.

Whether you’re a die-hard sushi fan or just looking to expand your foodie horizons, this new hotspot might be your next favourite dining destination.

According to the news publication IOL, Konnichiwa is a sushi restaurant offering an experience that promises to transport diners straight to the streets of Tokyo—without the long-haul flight.

The above source claims that Konnichiwa is set to open in March and is located at the Pullman Cape Town City Centre.

Pullman Hotels and Resorts is a French multinational upscale hotel brand owned by Accor, which operates 145 hotels and resorts in 42 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle-East, and Oceania.

Chef Ernest Tsosane, a renowned chef with a career in South Africa’s Asian restaurants, will be the chief master behind Konnichiwa, as reported by the Tourism News Africa publication.

“Konnichiwa’s menu offers a refined selection of Japanese-inspired dishes, complemented by a full beverage offering. Delicate sashimi features salmon, tuna, prawn, and buttery langoustine, paired with expertly crafted nigiri-like wagyu aburi.

“California rolls range from beloved classics to the signature Rainbow Roll, while maki and crisp handrolls highlight fresh, vibrant flavours. For something unique, the new-style sashimi introduces citrus-infused seafood options for added depth,” notes the above news website.
