The road to summer 24′ is officially underway and Mzansi’s artists and producers need no nudging as the music coming out recently indicates that they are well aware. Highly anticipated tunes from Mzansi’s biggest stars have finally dropped, and by the looks of things, we have a big summer on our hands.

The festive season in South Africa is popular for bringing out the best in our artists, as time to decide on the record of the year draws closer. Not only have our artists elevated the country into a hub of music, but the infectious groove culture has spilt on into other countries, whether in Africa or other continents.

Today marks the release of some of the most highly anticipated tunes in the country and across social media platforms is finally upon us and the streets are uncontainable as these bangers have been on repeat since the early morning. Whether you are a hip-hop, amapiano or gqom fan, there is something for everyone.

First up, we have ‘Iza Mawala’ and ‘Wishi wishi’, which have been taking TikTok by storm. Both these bangers have one thing in common: Kabza de Small. That alone tells us everything we need to know about these songs, however, the king of amapiano is not alone, on ‘Wishi Wishi’ he is alongside his close friend DJ Maphorisa, fan favourite Young Stunna, as well as the up-and-coming Scotts Maphuma.

‘Iza Mawala’ on the other hand is Kabza’s take on Dladla Mshunqisi’s hit song with the same name. Here, Kabza is alongside Tycoon and SLY.

The duo that brought us ‘Funk 55’ has also dropped their highly anticipated debut album titled ‘Mkhaya’. The duo secured collaborations with the likes of Mthunzi, Zee Nxumalo and Young Stunna, which adds an element of excitement as these individuals are known to always bring the heat.

Hip-hop fans also get treated to something new as 031’s very own, Nasty has dropped his EP titled ‘Confuse the enemy’. The collaboration with Lekaa Beats is already charting in 6 different countries. Although it is a deviation from Nasty C’s sound that we have become accustomed to, the quality of the music is that of Nasty C level. Nasty C constantly emphasises his hunger to evolve and ensures that his sound is moving with him.

Lastly, Maskandi fans have also been blessed with a summer banger through a MaWhoo and Mthandeni collaboration. Their hit-song ‘Gucci’ has taken South Africa by storm, going as far as recruiting those who were not fans of the unique genre.
