  • Former IFP adviser joins Zuma’s MK party after the Tshwane coalition collapses.
  • IFP members say they don’t know Ngidi, who previously supported the DA as a student.

A former IFP adviser in Tshwane has posted pictures of himself on social media wearing Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party regalia.

Dr Pimelo Ngidi, who advised IFP member of the mayoral committee (MMC) Ziyanda Zwane in the Tshwane municipality, has switched to former president Jacob Zuma’s new party.

A source told Scrolla.Africa that people had long suspected Ngidi of supporting MK even while working for the IFP in Tshwane. He was reportedly spotted at an MK rally before the national elections.

“Dr Ngidi worked as a lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology but resigned after being employed by the Tshwane municipality as adviser to the MMC,” said the source.

The source said Ngidi would likely still be with the IFP if Mayor Cilliers Brink’s coalition government hadn’t collapsed.

Many IFP members claimed they had never heard of Ngidi. Others pointed out that during his university days, he belonged to the Democratic Alliance Student Organisation.
