I wouldn’t advise them to sign Mbule and Lorch – ex-Chiefs coach

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan says Amakhosi should not sign Sipho Mbula or Thembinkosi Lorch next season.

The two players could be available as free agents next season but Khan feels the duo come with baggage. Mbule has seen little game time at Mamelodi Sundowns this season, while Lorch has found his feet under Rulani Mokwena at Wydad Casablanca.

Ex-Chiefs coach wants Amakhosi to sign players with less problems

“What’s important is for Chiefs to maintain the team spirit, I wouldn’t advise them to sign Mbule and Lorch even if they were free [agents] to be honest,” Khan told Soccer Beat podcast.

“The two players come with a lot of baggage; they are good players, but what they do off the field it’s going to influence what happens on the field,” said the former Chiefs coach.

“Chiefs once signed Khama Billiat from Sundowns, and he’s a very good player, but he came with a lot of off-field problems. So when I look at this, I don’t just look at the technical and tactical ability, I also look at the mentality and discipline because what makes a great team is players who are disciplined and don’t party.”

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has brought in 10 players this season however, the club has failed to challenge for the Betway Premiership. The Tunisian mentor has so far taken the club to their first domestic final in six years. They play Orlando Pirates next month in the Nedbank Cup final.

Do you think Chiefs should sign Mbule and Lorch or look for other options?
