How Orlando Pirates can lineup against Pyramids

Orlando Pirates host the Pyramids of Egypt in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final on Saturday evening.

The Buccaneers reached the semis by edging out MC Alger 1-0 on aggregate last week. Saturday’s match will only be the Sea Robbers’ fourth CAF CL semi-final appearance. They won the competition in 1995 and then reached the semis in 2006.

Their best showing since 1995 came in 2013 when they lost in the final to Al Ahly. This season, the Soweto giants are the only team unbeaten in the competition and will need to stay undefeated to add to their second star.

Before their CAF CL match, Orlando Pirates reached the final of the Nedbank Cup following a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants. Coach Jose Riveiro made some changes for the game, resting some key players ahead of their home CAF fixture.

Here are how Pirates are likely to lineup;

Goakkeeper: Sipho Chaine

Defenders: Deano van Rooyen, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Mbekezile Mbokazi and Paseka Mako

Midfielders: Makhehleni Makhaula, Patrick Maswanganyi, Kabelo Dlamini

Attackers: Mohau Nkota, Relebohole Mofokeng and Evidence Makgopa

Chaine and Mofokeng were on the bench during Orlando Pirates’ Nedbank Cup clash but should start in the all-important CAF Champions League tie. On the bench, the Buccaneers have Tshegofatso Mabasa, Deon Hotto and Boitumelo Radiopane who can come and make a difference.
