How long can Kaizer Chiefs keep him?

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has not been able to turn things around for the club after eight months in charge.

The Amakhosi management and supporters had hoped for significant improvements when the Tunisian tactician took over. Although the team showed promise in the early stages of the season, Nabi’s players have struggled with consistency throughout the campaign. The Soweto giants have accumulated only 29 points in the 22 league matches played. What is most concerning is that Kaizer Chiefs have already suffered nine defeats under Nabi.

On a positive note, the team has reached the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup and might be just two games away from ending their trophy drought. According to a Soccer Laduma insider, Kaizer Chiefs management are patient with Nabi and are willing to let him see out his contract.

“You have to remember that the coach signed a three-year contract and the management believe that if he can be here for whole three seasons, then he will change things. It’s true that they are times when part of the management doesn’t feel happy with the results and feel like the coach is skating on thin ice and at times they agree to disagree and make things work for the team and they are looking at the positives the coach has brought to the team which were not there in the past. So, yes the coach will be given until the end of his contract to change the team’s fortunes,” said the insider.

Kaizer Chiefs patient with Nabi

Before Nabi, Amakhosi had Cavin Johnson, Molefi Ntseki, Stuart Baxter and Arthur Zwane, who all failed to lift the club. Amakhosi came close to winning the Betway Premiership under Ernst Middendorp but fell short on the last day.

Should Nabi finish his tenure?
