Horrific car accident leaves five dead in Cato Ridge, KZN

A horrific car accident has killed five people on Eddie Hagen Drive in Cato Ridge on Sunday, 27 April 2025. It is alleged that the car driver lost control and crashed into a concrete drain.

FAMILY WAS ON THEIR WAY TO THE HOSPITAL

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the car accident occurred when the family was transporting one of their family members to the hospital after being was stabbed.

“Five people have lost their lives and one person is in a critical condition in the hospital. It is alleged that this vehicle was transporting one of their family members who had been assaulted and stabbed to the local clinic when they lost control and collided with a concrete barrier,” explained Jamieson.

Jamieson added that SAPS, Metro Police Search and Rescue responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.

M41 HEAD-ON COLLISION LEAVES DRIVER IN CRITICAL CONDITION

In other news, a head-on collision on the M41 near Cornubia Mall onramp has left a driver in a critical condition after sustaining injuries.

Reports suggest that a bakkie was travelling counterflow against oncoming traffic when it collided head-on with another vehicle.

“On arrival, paramedics began assessing the injured and worked to extricate the entrapped driver. The fire department was also called in to assist, particularly with the vehicle rescue and a significant oil spillage caused by the impact,” said Arrive Alive.

The critically injured driver was transported by KZNVIP Ambulance to a nearby medical facility.
