‘He’s not really convincing’ – Pitso’s take on Kaizer Chiefs coach

Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane is not convinced with Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

The 59-year-old Tunisian mentor took over as Amakhosi coach back in July and has since helped the club to fifth in the Betway Premiership. With 14 matches still left this season, Nabi’s realistic chance is helping the club into the top three.

Pitso, who was linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, says Nabi is trying his best to make Amakhosi more competitive. Speaking to the media this week, Jingles gave his verdict not just on Chiefs but also their rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns

“Kaizer Chiefs, ok, Nabi is trying to do something, he’s getting there,” Pitso said. “He’s not really convincing, I guess he’s trying his best.”

Mosimane took over the Iranian club in October last year but struggled to turn the club’s fortunes. It was reported that the former Al Ahly coach was not paid his salary and gave the club a two-week deadline to settle outstanding payments for him and his staff.

The club failed to meet the deadline forcing Mosimane to terminate his contract after just three months in Iran.

Speaking of Kaizer Chiefs’ rivals, Pitso said Orlando Pirates were on a roll and a team to beat.

“Orlando Pirates has a very good coach, fantastic, on a roll, we should not disturb them.”

He then turned to his former team Mamelodi Sundowns.

“The billionaires are good, they can always buy anybody, anything, and they can buy Pep [Guardiola] if they want. So they don’t need help.

Pitso says Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi is getting there

“I’m happy that we have left them at a better place and look how they are doing,” Mosimane added.

“I’m proud to look back, you know when somebody says ‘Ah there was a mess’ and I had to sort it out? There’s no mess I left there. I left trophies,” he told Xoliswa Zondo on 5FM as per GOAL.

In recent weeks, reports emerged that Nabi could leave Kaizer Chiefs this season making way for Pitso Mosimane. That however seems likely given how much progress the coach has made since joining the Soweto giants last year in July.

Should Mosimane get the job at Chiefs?
