The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on Tuesday confirmed the official fuel price adjustments for April 2025.

March saw a drop in global oil prices as markets reacted to US President Donald Trump’s tariffs and trade wars.

In addition, the rand held firm amid the shocks.

This translated to a sizeable – and welcome – cut in fuel prices in April.

The Department of Energy confirmed different prices decreases for Inlandand Coastalregions.

The changes should be in effect if you visit your local petrol station from TODAY.

Fuel price adjustments as follows:

FUEL PRICE CHANGE (INLAND) PRICE CHANGE (COAST)
Petrol 93 decrease of 58 cents decrease of 62 cents
Petrol 95 decrease of 72 cents decrease of 76 cents
Diesel 0.05% decrease of 84 cents decrease of 88 cents
Diesel 0.005% decrease of 86 cents decrease of 90 cents
Illuminating Paraffin decrease of 82 cents decrease of 84 cents

FUEL PRICE IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPACTED BY TWO MAIN FACTORS:

1. The international price of petroleum products, driven mainly by oil prices

2. The rand/dollar exchange rate used in the purchase of these products


Oil price

At the time of publishing the brent crude oil price is $74.36 a barrel.

Exchange rate

At the time of publishing the rand/dollar exchange rate is R18.58/$.
