Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Mandla Masango wants Orlando Pirates star player Relebohile Mofokeng to play his football in the Netherlands should he leave the Buccaneers.

The 20-year-old has been influential for the Sea Robbers helping them to the MTN8 truimph in October. He has been linked to various teams in Europe but no formal offer was made to Pirates.

Masango, who has spent eight years with Chiefs, says Mofokeng could excel in two leagues if he keaves Orlando Pirates.

“He doesn’t have to go to Chelsea, Manchester City, or Barcelona because his game time will be limited at those big teams. I would prefer for him to go to Holland [The Netherlands]because the style of play there will suit him because it’s more technical, they don’t have big players who will intimidate him. There they play 100 percent football,” he told Robert Marawa on 947.

They knock the ball around, therefore it will suit his style because he’s incredible in one-on-one situations, and no one can stand up to him.”

Former Chiefs winger says Pirates star Mofokeng should not rush

Masango prefers Mofokeng to play either in Belgium or Netherlands in order to establish himself in Europe.

“I think he can also excel in Belgium. Those two leaguesare good for players who are coming from SA before they can go to those big leagues in Europe to establish themselves.”

Mofokeng has three seasons under his belt at Orlando Pirates and many feel this should be his last season in the PSL. The 20-year-old has netted four goals in 15 matches this campaign earning him a number of call-ups to the national team.

The former Chiefs star says Mofokeng should not be rushed.

“Some players are playing in France but they’re not getting much game time. You can’t just rush, rush. You need to take it step by step because life is different on that side [in Europe]. Here you’re a star and everybody glorifies you but on that side, you need to start from scratch,” Masango said.
