GOOD news at last for King Phalo Airport

Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) SOC Ltd has announced that the instrument landing system (ILS) flight procedure for Runway 11 at King Phalo Airportin East London has been approved by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).

This approval ensures that both runways, 29 and 11, at King Phalo Airport will have valid procedures in place.

As a result of this development, flight operations are expected to improve, reducing the likelihood of flight disruptions as witnessed recently with cancellations, diversions, and delays, due to inclement weather conditions.

ATNS regrets any inconvenience suffered by stakeholders and requests patience during the maintenance programme of the instrument flight procedures in various airports across the country.

Between 20 and 30 flights land at King Phalo Airport each day with 620 000 people welcomed each year.

The airport is also a crucial link in the cargo chain, playing an important role in the growing economy of the Eastern Cape.
