GOGO MAWENI FINALLY BREAKS SILENCE FOLLOWING HER ARREST

Controversial traditional healer and reality show star Makhotso Lee-Anne Mofokeng, known as Gogo Maweni, has been granted bail.

Maweni appeared at the Protea Magistrates Court in Soweto on Monday, 20 January 2025, and was released on R5000 bail.

Celebrating her release from jail, she took to Instagram to share a series of pictures with the caption:

“Dear Ancestors and God, for this lesson, I will forever be grateful,” she wrote.

Maweni stated that an official statement would be released to provide details about her arrest. The case has been postponed to 11 February.

MORE ABOUT HER ARREST

The controversial sangoma was denied bail during her first court appearance on 20 January 2025, and the court revealed that her case dates back to 2019.

The court heard that: “The accused (Gogo Maweni) was arrested on 19 January 2025, in connection with an alleged incident that occurred on 17 December 2019, in Dlamini, Soweto. It is alleged that Mofokeng used a bottle to assault the complainant, striking her in the mouth.”

“The matter was previously provisionally closed due to the untraceability of the complainant. However, further investigations have led to the accused’s arrest and court appearance,” Phindi Mjonondwane, NPA Johannesburg regional spokesperson, said.

GOGO MAWENI OPENS UP ABOUT HER PREGNANCY

According to reports, Maweni is expecting twins, a pregnancy she announced a couple of months ago. Maweni, who has faced challenges with conception in the past, opened up to TshisaLIVE about her fertility struggles.

“We’ve been trying and haven’t been getting it right but now I’m pregnant.  I had a miscarriage, but now I’m pregnant officially,” she told the publication.

“It’s been a lot of tries. We had two embryos but lost one. So now we have this one growing and I just want to keep it to myself with no noise and no drama. I want the baby to grow,” she said.
