Kaizer Chiefs will take on SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout Cup last 16. Here’s a preview from United’s coach Gavin Hunt.

GAVIN HUNT EXPECTING A TOUGH KAIZER CHIEFS

“If you look at the team that played Chiefs in April [league match last season], I think it is nine or 10 changes. In three months there are a lot of changes that you have to take into consideration as well,” Hunt said about Amakhosi via Sowetan.

“A lot of teams have had continuity, but we had a lot of changes. There will be a lot of players who will step up and if given a chance I’m sure they will do well.

“Of course they spent, they bought well and bought a lot of players in key positions. So they have improved from where they were last season,” Hunt added on Kaizer Chiefs.

“We know what we have to face. We will play them again next week. We are under no illusion. I’m sure there will be a big crowd there and we have to put on a show that’s for sure. I don’t think they will change the way they started. They will have a full go,” he concluded.

AMAKHOSI ANNOUNCE CEDRIC KAZE

In the meantime, the Glamour Boys have announced a new assistant coach to replace Fernando Da Cruz, who departed.

“Kaizer Chiefs have appointed Cedric Kaze as the new assistant coach. This strategic addition to coach Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team aims to bolster the Club’s performance and aspirations for the season,” the club said.

“Burundi-born Kaze brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the set-up, having previously worked alongside Nabi at Young Africans, where they achieved significant success together, winning six trophies in two seasons. His tactical expertise and experience in various coaching roles makes him a perfect fit to complement Nabi’s vision for the team.

“The 45-year-old has an impressive CV, which includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Science, CAF A licence, as well as a German Football Federation A licence. He was named coach of the year for East and Central Africa in 2012.

“Kaze worked with the national teams in Burundi, where he started as an assistant coach for the U17 team in 2007, and became an assistant coach to the senior team, then coach for the U20s and U23s until he left for Canada in 2015.

“In Canada, he worked for a youth football training institution before he moved to the FC Barcelona Academy where he worked for two and half years.

“He has worked as a head coach in Burundian, Rwandan and Tanzanian domestic football, where he was also a Technical Director,” Kaizer Chiefs concluded.
