Throughout their history in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Kaizer Chiefs have been known for having an abundance of quality strikers.
Legendary figures like Fani Madida, Marks Maponyane, and Abednigo Ngcobo have left their mark on the club. Here, we highlight some of the best forwards from the Amakhosiwho have achieved legendary status.
Fani Madida
Madida had a successful tenure with Amakhosi, scoring a total of 58 goals in 107 appearances. He is arguably the best Chiefs striker of the past 30 years. Before leaving the PSL in 1992, Madida was considered one of the most feared strikers in the league.
Collins Mbesuma
Known as “Ntofontofo,” Mbesuma was named PSL Player of the Season after an impressive campaign where he scored 35 goals in all competitions, including 25 in the league. His record of 35 goals in a single season still stands. Although he spent only one season at Kaizer Chiefs, he remains a prominent figure in discussions about the league, even after his retirement.

Knowledge Musona
Dubbed the “Smiling Assassin,” Musona is a striker that every fan wishes was still on the Amakhosi roster today. He scored 40 goals during his three-year stay at Naturena before moving to Germany in 2011. To this day, he remains the club’s most prolific striker since Mbesuma.
Marks Maponyane
Marks “Go Man Go” Maponyane had a 10-year career at Kaizer Chiefs and is one of the few strikers to have played for both Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates.
