Former Orlando Pirates left-back Thabo Matlaba could soon find a new home in the PSL following his departure from Royal AM.
Matlaba had been with Royal AM since leaving Moroka Swallows two seasons ago, but the club is no more.
Now, according to local reports in the media, Matlaba has opted to stay in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
He was spotted training with Golden Arrows alongside former teammate at Royal AM Philani Sithebe.
Manqoba Mngqithi together with his technical team are assessing the duo, and it remains to be seen how long that will take.
EX-ORLANDO PIRATES STAR MATLABA SPOTTED AT GOLDEN ARROWS
Matlaba is a veteran defender who has seen it all in local and international football with Bafana Bafana.
The 37-year-old has been a professional footballer for 15 years having made his PSL debut for Free State Stars in 2010.
Matlaba moved to Orlando Pirates in January 2012, and was instrumental in helping them win trophies.
The Tembisa-born defender twice played in CAF inter-club finals – CAF Champions League in 2013 and CAF Confederation Cup in 2015.
He left Pirates for Black Leopards in 2019 but he was back in Gauteng with Swallows a year later.
However, Matlaba doesn’t appear to be that fortunate in terms of finding a team he would call home in recent years.
And that is because both Swallows and Royal AM do no exist, and he is now back in the market for a new team.
He would hope Arrows give him a career lifeline by offering him a contract before the end of the current campaign.
