What if I told you that some of your favourite foods are secretly working overtime to help you burn calories? That’s right—certain foods can boost your metabolism and help you shed those extra calories without even trying!
These calorie-burning foods do more than just taste great and with the help of health publications, we explain which snacks and meals can give your metabolism a natural boost.
Guacamole
According to the Eat This, Not That publication, avocados are rich in vitamin B6, which fights cortisol stress hormone and belly fat, while providing monounsaturated fat, which may prevent belly fat distribution. “This is a healthy fat, that according to a study in Diabetes Care may actually prevent body fat distribution around your belly. The healthy fats from avocados keep on giving too, as they’ll most likely keep you fuller longer.”
Peanut butter: Peanut butter, a beloved childhood staple, is rich in “flat-belly nutrients” such as monounsaturated fats and protein, which can help lower cholesterol and promote overall health.
Cheese: Cheese, rich in calcium, has been linked to lower body weight, according to the National Library of Medicine. However, it is suggested to consume it alongside other fibre-rich snacks.
Tart cherries: The Science Daily publication claims that “Antioxidant-rich tart cherries were found in one 12-week study by the University of Michigan done on rats to have a 9% greater belly fat reduction compared to rats who didn’t eat cherries. Cherries are also great for combating inflammation, which is overall going to help you reach your weight loss goals.”
Dark chocolate: Louisiana State University researchers discovered that chocolate can boost gut-healthy polyphenolic compounds, including fatty acid, which inhibits inflammation-related genes and promotes fat burning as fuel.
