uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK) National Organiser Floyd Shivambu has welcomed former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member Busisiwe Mkhwebane to the party.

Shivambu, 41, who previously served as the deputy president of the EFF, left the party to join MK Party. He co-founded the EFF in 2013 with Julius Malema after the latter was expelled from the African National Congress (ANC). The two leaders have maintained a close friendship that extends beyond politics over the years.

In August, Shivambu surprised many by announcing his resignation from the EFF. He immediately joined Jacob Zuma’s MK Party, leaving many South Africans questioning his decision.

Last week, Mkhwebane followed Floyd Shivambu’s lead and also exited the EFF.

“Today, I’m saying goodbye to you, Fighters. After careful consideration and talking to my family, they advised and felt I needed to go away. Spend time with them, rest, and continue to fight for the vulnerable where possible.” Mkhwebane said last week.

“The provinces of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu Natal are blessed to have such quality leadership!”
