PICTURE: PEXELS/ CHRISTMAS GAMES

The best time to get together with family and make unforgettable memories is over the holiday season.

If you have never tried playing Christmas games before, I’m here to let you know that games are what really unite everyone, even though the delicious food and spectacular décor set the setting. Games with a Christmas theme have something to offer everyone, and if you are competitive like me then the below suggestions are for you.

The options are also for the whole family so rest assured, your Christmas gathering this year will be a memorable evening with these fun games that will keep every family member, including children happy all night long.

Christmas charades

One thing about me, I love charades all year round. This, however, is a classic twist to the traditional charades game where players act out holiday-related clues like “Christmas movies, shows, songs.” If you want to keep it less complicated for the little ones, clues such as “decorating the tree” will also work.

Christmas scavenger hunt

The Christmas scavenger hunt game is where you get to put on your investigating cap by looking for tiny Christmas-themed objects, like decorations, hidden in the house. You will need to make a list and hints so that the players can try to locate them.

Christmas Pictionary

I know drawing is not necessarily something easy to do. I personally have never played Christmas Pictionary before but I’m not one to shy away from challenges, partly because I do think I have a little bit of Picasso in me. The game involves making holiday-themed guessing prompts such as “Christmas trees” or “barn.” It is a great way to share plenty of laughs, no matter how bad you think your drawing is, that is the essence of the game, laughter and creativity at its best.

Christmas carols karaoke

Nobody does karaoke like my 18-year-old cousin, and it is not karaoke without Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. This is the game you play when you do not care at all that you do not have an angelic voice, and in fact, it’s okay! I say this with confidence because I am indeed one of those people. You are more than welcome to add more artists to the list for a more Christmas-themed karaoke such as Wham! – Last Christmas (my personal favourite).
