Eskom to implement nine-hour power outage in this part of Gauteng

Eskom has scheduled planned maintenance resulting in a nine-hour power outage in Gauteng.

The maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday, 4 February from 9:00 – 18:00.

NINE-HOUR POWER OUTAGE TO AFFECT PARTS OF GAUTENG

Eskom said there will be electricity supply disruption in Braamfischer, Soweto due to maintenance that will be conducted on the distribution network.

“The power outage will affect customers in Braamfischer Phase 2 on Tuesday, 4 February, from 9:00 – 18:00. The interruption of electricity is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution power lines,” the power utility said.

CUSTOMERS URGED TO TREAT ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES AS LIVE

In the interest of safety, Eskom said customers should treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power outage.

“Eskom apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused by this maintenance. Should circumstances beyond the control of Eskom arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated,” the power utility added.

In addition, Eskom said that should circumstances be beyond its control, the planned power outage in Soweto, Gauteng, may not proceed as communicated.

ESKOM CONFIRMS LOAD SHEDDING HAS BEEN SUSPENDED

Meanwhile, Eskom has confirmed that load shedding was suspended at 6:00 on Sunday, due to the sufficient replenishment of emergency reserves.

The power utility implemented Stage 3 load shedding from 17:00 on Friday, 31 January, due to several breakdowns that required extended repair times.
