Errol Musk, the father of the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has shared new details on his horrific experience of fatally shooting three house robbers at his lush Johannesburg home.
The businessman – who now lives in Cape Town – claims the incident left him deaf in his right ear.
Errol has seven children with three different women.
ERROL MUSK ON KILLING HOUSE ROBBERS
Speaking to MacG on Podcast and Chill, Errol Musk shed light on the 1998 shooting, which took place at his Sandton home.
The 12-acre property was where he kept all his horses and where he also started developing a housing project.
Errol and his daughter Alexandra visited the property one evening, where the young girl decided to take a bath in the main bedroom en suite.
Miraculously, Errol Musk and his daughter – who was in the bathroom – escaped in the hail of bullets. However, he experienced total hearing loss in his right ear due to the shooting.
According to Errol, an inquest into the men’s death was opened by police, and he was investigated. However, the incident was ruled as self-defence.
Errol even claimed he was remorseful over the mens’ deaths. He added: “I’m not proud of it…It was a terrible experience”.
EXPERIENCED SHOOTER
According to The Sun, Errol Musk claimed he used a 357 Magnum to fire the shots, with hollow point ammunition, where the shrapnel of his first bullet split and killed two of the men.
Errol attributed his “Clint Eastwood style” shooting to his experience with firearms.
The father of seven even claimed to have won the South African Defence Force’s national shooting competition in Bloemfontein in 1968.
Errol and Elon would often also go hunting when the latter was a young boy.
According to Errol, his firstborn developed a “gun obsession” while living in SA.
