After what may have been a heated 2024 for the footwear company DRIP and its founder Lekau Sehoana – 2025 is the year of resurrection for the company.

The company recently took to Instagram to share the exciting news that DRIP Sportif a new brand will soon hit the shelves of sneakers stores within the country from as early as February this year.

“Happy New Year from DRIP Sportif! Wishing you and yours an epic year ahead, filled with fresh kicks, new vibes, and endless possibilities.”

The post continued: “And to make it even more exciting, we’re thrilled to announce that DRIP is coming back, reborn, and stronger than ever. We’ve been through the fire and came out stronger. New retail partnerships, new heat, and a new era for DRIP.”

In a post of his own, Lekau wrote:

“The cat’s out the bag. Our new sneaker will be launched and retailed at Tape from February.”

Last year was a difficult year for Lekau, this comes after the Johannesburg High Court ruled that the company would be placed under liquidation.

This comes after the advertising company, Wideopen dragged the company to court for unpaid funds that accumulated to R20 million.

Additionally, it was discovered that the company was also not complying with the domestic tax laws following an investigation initiated by the Financial Surveillance Department (FinSurv) of Sarb.

The continuous fight for survival was ultimately lost, after the company later shut the doors of its stores across the country.

However, the launch of the new sneaker might just be sign or new beginnings and lessons learnt.
