DJ Sumbody to be remembered through the release of his last record

DJ Sumbody’s posthumous song will be released as a tribute to honor him.

Before his tragic death, the DJ recorded a song titled Somebody Nice. It will be released on 15 November, featuring Murumba Pitch and Junior Taurus.

Oupa Sefoka, known as DJ Sumbody, was murdered in November 2022.

The DJ, famously dubbed the Mayor of Tshwane, was best known for hits like Ayepyep and Monate Mpolaye, which featured Thebe and Cassper Nyovest. He was also a co-owner of the popular Ayepyep Lifestyle venues in Menlyn, Tshwane, and Cape Town.

In an interview with Daily Sun, Junior Taurus (Tshepo Mosidi) shared that the song was recorded just a day before DJ Sumbody’s passing.

“Listening to it now brings so much emotion because it was the last song he recorded,” he said.

The release of the song is a tribute to the late DJ, with Junior explaining, “Even though he’s no longer with us, we wanted to remember him through his music.”

Junior also highlighted the impact DJ Sumbody had on the industry, stating, “He believed in culture and was behind the success of liquor brands that people didn’t originally buy. He made them popular, and now they’re widely consumed.”
