I don’t know how you have been cleaning a burnt iron.

But whether your iron got burnt with a cloth or not, using it for a long time without adequate cleaning would definitely change its surface.

If you want that iron of yours to continue sparkling, then this article has simple ways you can clean a burnt iron.

Note: Don’t try quick cleaning whilst ironing a dress. Yes, steer clear of cleaning while your iron is connected to the power source.

1. Use soapy water

Don’t use any harsh material, instead, opt for a small piece of cloth or napkin soaked in a soapy water to gently clean the plate of your iron. You do this repeatedly for a better result. Mind you, do not scratch it, rather rub until it’s smooth.

3. Vinegar

Vinegar is a liquid you can use to remove tough stains on your iron. Add vinegar to heated water; soak a soft sponge into the mixture then rub the plate thoroughly until the stains fade completely. Repeat as much as you can to get your desired result.

4. Toothpaste

Toothpaste is another way to clean a burnt iron. Rub the paste round the iron plate; use a piece of cloth or napkin to rub until it becomes clean. Before you start removing the stains, ensure the iron surface is dry.

5. Salt

Salt is an effective cooking ingredient in removing tough stains. Place a clean fabric on your ironing board, sprinkle some salt and place the iron on it to scrub. Do this gently until the burnt area disappears.
