Did Kaizer Chiefs miss chance to sign Oswin Appollis for good?

It was no secret that Kaizer Chiefs were interested in signing Polokwane City star Oswin Appollis in the last window.

Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr admitted they had approached Polokwane for the signing of Appollis.

In the end, Chiefs roped in the services of Bongani Sam from arch rivals Orlando Pirates. They continued to sure up their defence, with the signings of Rushwin Dortley and Fiacre Ntwari. The defender joining from Cape Town Spurs while the goalkeeper signed from TS Galaxy. It didn’t stop there as Gaston Sirino, Inacio Miguel, Bradley Cross and Njabulo Blom. They eventually conceded defeat in the race for Appollis who continues to shine for Polokwane and Bafana Bafana.

Chiefs wanted Appollis

While Chiefs have, themselves, started clicking as an attacking unit, it is believed they’re still interested in Appollis. Now according to The Citizen, they could face too much competition for his services come the January transfer window.

“Chiefs are professional in the way they deal with transfers and they will go through the right channels again when the window opens again but other clubs have shown interest in Ossie (Appollis) as well. I can’t tell you which club in Europe wants him because it’s still too early to say but it’s not only in Africa where he’s in demand. At the end of the day, Polokwane City will have the final say because he has a contract with them.” Said the source.

Now face more competition

Before the Chiefs rumours intensified, Appollis was already thought to be on his way to North Africa. It was believed that an agreement was close to being struck between Polokwane and MC Algers in Algeria. In the end, that move fell flat and he stayed out.

Chiefs fans, should the opportunity to sign Appollis arise in January should the club sign him? Or should they continue to show faith in youngsters Mduduzi Shabalala and Wandile Duba? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
