The passing of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s youngest daughter has helped bringing the ANC and IFP together in KwaZulu-Natal.
ANC leaders, led by provincial chair Siboniso Duma, visited the kwaPhindangene royal home in Mahlabathini on Wednesday to mourn Princess Angela Sibuyiselwe Buthelezi.
Duma said President Cyril Ramaphosa asked him to make peace with the IFP.
“In the last National Executive Committee meeting of the ANC, President Ramaphosa instructed Duma and Mtolo to start a conciliatory tone with the IFP. Even the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi had already called for the reconciliation of the ANC and the IFP,” said Duma.
He added that Buthelezi would have supported the two parties working together in government.
Princess Angela died in a Cape Town hospital after getting sick. She was the youngest of Prince Buthelezi’s and Princess Irene maMzila’s eight children.
She worked as a municipal manager at Ulundi Municipality before becoming an MP in 2019.
She leaves behind her daughter Princess Ntando Keruka and two living siblings, Inkosi Zuzifa and Princess Phumzile Buthelezi.
Her other siblings – Prince Phumapgesheya, Prince Nelisuzulu and Princess Mandisa – died earlier.
She passed away a month before her father’s will is to be read in December.
The funeral will be at kwaPhindangene royal home outside Ulundi on Saturday.
