Nigerian singer-songwriter David OON, better known by his stage name Davido has found himself on the wrong side of the stick when it comes to his recent social media activities.
The United States of America recently held its National Election where millions of people took to the voting polls to elect their candidate of choice to become the country’s new president.
Among the crowd was the ‘Assurance’ hitmaker who later took to X sharing a picture of himself after voting in the US for the first time.
Taking to the social media platform the singer shared an encouraging message to his fellow countrymen urging them to be safe as they go out to exercise their constitutional rights on election day.
Later he shared an image of himself along with the caption, “First time voter!”
The picture shows Davido brightly smiling as he holds a sticker in his hand which reads, “I’m a Georgia voter. I secured my vote.”

While his posts were not intended to cause any controversy, online users quickly entered the comment section criticising the rapper for not showing the same enthusiasm when it came to his country of origin, Nigeria.
“Davido, where was this energy during this Nigerian election? You didn’t show proof of vote, didn’t show support to voters, or even bother to use your platform to call on the IENC when there were reports of electoral malpractices across the country. But you are proud to vote in the US election?” asked one user.
Clarifying Davido’s actions another user shed light on the fact that the singer holds dual citizenship after being born in Atlanta in the United States and therefore was eligible to vote.
The 32-year-old singer has however ignored online criticism and congratulated the newly elected President Donald Trump well on his term, as well as Kamala Harris on being a standout leader.
Congratulations 🇺🇸 47th POTUS @realDonaldTrump ~ but you !! @KamalaHarris SHOULD BE PROUD!! YOU DID THAT ! A SOLID WOMAN 🇺🇸🇺🇸💪🏾
