- The DA in KwaZulu-Natal won’t support ANC-led municipalities until Cilliers Brink is put back as Tshwane mayor.
- Political parties have appointed Mike Mabuyakhulu to manage GPU issues after public fights between the ANC, DA and IFP.
The DA in KwaZulu-Natal won’t help the ANC-run municipalities like eThekwini and KwaDukuza until former Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink gets his job back.
The party made this decision at its congress meeting on 9 November, where they looked at how they’re doing in the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU).
“We can’t help the ANC run local governments while they’re bringing down DA governments elsewhere,” said DA KZN leader Francois Rodgers. “We also won’t work with the EFF, which isn’t part of the GPU, like in eThekwini.”
The DA is angry after losing power in Tshwane when the ANC, ActionSA and EFF teamed up against Brink. They’re also upset with ActionSA for backing the ANC’s mayor choice in KwaDukuza.
Rodgers slammed the ANC for attacking the DA and IFP at a recent press conference, saying it hurts the GPU’s unity.
The parties have now picked ANC veteran Mike Mabuyakhulu to lead a committee to stop public fighting between GPU members.
