The mother of the late Costa Titch – real name Costantinos Tsobanoglou – has posted a special tribute to the rapper on what would have been his 30th birthday.
The pint-size star died on 11 March 2023 after suddenly collapsing on stage while performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg.
COSTA TITCH’S BITTERSWEET 30TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
On Sunday, 26 January, fans of Costa Titch celebrated his 30th birthday by releasing green biodegradable balloons into the sky. The rapper was known for his love of the neon green colour.
The tribute coincided with the release of Costa’s posthumous single release, Hayi.
Joining in the bittersweet tribute was the rapper’s mother, Lara Langeveld.
She shared in a heartbreaking Instagram post: “My dearest son, today we celebrate you and the incredible legacy you left behind. You would have been 30 today—a milestone filled with dreams and achievements we know you would have reached. Though you’re no longer here with us, your light shines brighter than ever in our hearts and in the lives of those you’ve touched.
She continued: “We miss your laughter, your passion, and your vision. But we find comfort in knowing you are watching over us. You’re not gone—you’ve just moved to a heavenly stage, and we know you’re still dancing, still dreaming, still inspiring.
Lara urged Costa Titch’s fans to “honour his memory today by living with the same passion and love he poured into the world.”
CAUSE OF DEATH REVEALED
Last year, the family of Costa Titch revealed the cause of his death after initially suspecting foul play.
In a statement, the rapper’s loved ones alluded to him experiencing a heart condition. This, despite previously claiming he lived a fit and healthy lifestyle.
It read: “Amidst speculations, our team and family have collaborated with pathologists to unveil the true cause of his passing. The post-mortem examination revealed significant strain on Costa’s heart, unbeknownst to him, compounded by enduring stress and fatigue.
“This culmination likely led to an irregular heartbeat, triggering the seizure that claimed life.”
