Olympic gold medallist Wayde van Niekerk and his wife Chesney will soon become a family of four after announcing their second pregnancy on social media.
The couple – who tied the knot in 2017 – have a son named Elijah Luca.
Wayde is the cousin of Springboks star Cheslin Kolbe.
WAYDE VAN NIEKERK AND WIFE ARE EXPECTING!
In an Instagram post, Wayde van Niekerk’s wife, Chesney, indirectly announced her second pregnancy. The beautiful couple posted pictures of themselves dressed for a special occasion – a wedding.
A glowing Chesney wore a black and nude lace gown, showing off her baby bump, which she lovingly cradled with her hand.
The post marked the married couple’s first post marking their impending arrival, which was very different from her first pregnancy announcement in 2021.
Sharing a cute illustration of her “bun in the oven.”
She shared: “I’m so excited to announce that we’re having a BABY! We are looking forward to this process and to having a healthy and blessed pregnancy. Soon, the Vans will be joined by a little Super Van.”
Not long after, baby Elijah was born.
FAITH FIRST
Like many other athletes, Olympic sprinter Wayde van Niekerk has also spoken fervently about his faith.
At the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Wayde said of his record-breaking gold win in the 400m: “Jesus did it”.
A picture of the star’s running shoes with the handwritten words: “Jesus, I’m all yours. Use me” went viral around the world.
Speaking to the media after his victory, the emotional athlete said: “Everything that comes my way, I thank the Lord. I leave every race and every step I take in his hands. I trust him in every movement I do.”
Although he admitted to having a “disappointing” performance at the Paris Olympics in August, Waye van Niekerk has vowed to put his faith in his creator.
He shared on Instagram: “I’m at peace with where I’m at and what the journey has presented me.
“I’ve been blessed to experience extreme highs and won every medal and now I’m exposed to the lows and totally accept it as my reality.
“I stay faithful and trust that God will guide and help me through every step moving forward. Faith as small as a mustard seed is all I have, and I’ll hold on to that faith as long as I can.”
