The funeral for Ebenhaezer ‘Ebby’ Dibakwane was held on Friday in Maggiesdal, Mbombela, Nelspruit. Family, friends, and colleagues gathered to say goodbye to Ebby, who tragically passed away by suicide on March 7.
At the service, his brother Lesedi recalled fond memories of Ebby. According to EWN, Lesedi described Ebby as a curious and exceptional individual, always captivated by the world around him from an early age.
He also praised Ebby’s storytelling skills, which captivated everyone with his wit and charm. Lesedi went on to say that one of the things he treasured most about his brother was how he spoke to them and treated them with such respect, as reported by The Saturday Star.
On March 12, a memorial service to celebrate Ebby’s life took place at The Bioscope in Johannesburg. Fellow comedians took the stage, remembering how Ebby always brought laughter, even through his struggles with depression.
He was remembered not only for his remarkable comedic talent but also for his warmth and selflessness. Mojak Lehoko spoke about how Ebby built a close-knit group of friends, while Chris Forest described him as family, reflecting on their strong bond, according to Zimoja.
Ebby’s family confirmed his death on Tuesday, with preliminary findings suggesting he died by suicide. They expressed their sadness and gratitude for the overwhelming support they’ve received during this tough time.
