Kaizer Chiefs attacker Donay Jansen explained why it was important for him to secure a loan move away from Soweto giants to SuperSport United.

The Chiefs academy graduate from the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] joined SuperSport on a season-long loan at the start of the current 2024/25 Betway Premiership.

Before departing from Amakhosi, the 21-year-old was rewarded with a long-term contract, signing a three-year deal.

At SuperSport, Jansen has made two appearances across all competitions. In both matches, he has been introduced as a substitute. In one of these two games, he faced his parent club, Chiefs. As of now, he’s yet to contribute a goal or assist for the Tshwane-based side.

The talented young attacker hopes to benefit at SuperSport under experienced coach Gavin Hunt by getting some game time. SuperSport is one of the teams that heavily rely on youngsters because of their financial constraints.

“For me, it was a great move; I’m hoping to get some game time. As a player, I wanted some minutes, and I have been getting that at SuperSport,” Donay told FARPost.

“Like any other player, I have to do what the coach wants me to do on the pitch. By doing that, I think I will get better and improve.

“It’s a long season; I hope as time goes on, I will adjust well to the team and contribute towards SupurSport’s goals. As a player, one should leave a mark wherever you play. So that’s what I’m trying to do here.

“It will benefit my growth, and I’m learning new things as a player. This game of football is all about learning, then you will be a better player as time goes on.”
