Kaizer Chiefs bounced back to winning ways in the DDC while Orlando Pirates made it back-to-back wins at the weekend.
Amakhosi returned to winning form with a dominant 4-0 victory over Polokwane City on the road at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. This victory snapped a two-match draw streak for Amakhosi.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys have moved up to second place in the league standings with 17 points. They are currently tied with log leaders Stellenbosch FC but are behind in goal difference.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers, who played on Saturday, triumphed 3-0 over struggling Chippa United at Isak Steyl Stadium, marking their second consecutive win.
Simphiwe Masilela, Siphamandla Msezana, and Mehluleli Maphumulo each scored for Ezimnyama Ngenkani.
They sit fourth in the league standings, having garnered 15 points from eight matches.
SUNDOWNS CAME BACK TO ACTION WITH A RESOUNDING VICTORY OVER CAPE TOWN CITY
Mamelodi Sundowns resumed their league campaign with a resounding 5-1 victory over Cape Town City FCat Tuks Stadium having missed action last weekend due to Royal AM’s suspension. This was their third consecutive victory.
Thapelo Maseko and Siyabonga Mabena, both members of the first team, played for the reserves and each bagged braces while Sipho Ngqakabana scored the other goal.
With a game in hand, Sundowns occupy third place, having collected 15 points from seven league matches.
In one of the games that took place on Sunday, the champions, Stellenbosch FC, trashed Lamontville Golden Arrows 6-0 at Idas Valley Stadium.
The Cape Winelands side remains on top of the table with 17 points after eight games they have played so far.
