The City of Cape Town says refuse collection services are planned to continue as normal during the upcoming public holidays.
CAPE TOWN REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICES TO CONTINUE AS NORMAL
The metro municipality said collection services are planned to continue as normal on Good Friday (18 April), Easter Monday (21 April), Freedom Day observed (28 April) and Workers’ Day (1 May).
Residents should however be aware of the possibility of collection delays, due to factors such as holiday traffic or unplanned absenteeism.
“If delays do occur, residents should please take their bin out each day until it has been emptied, excluding Easter Sunday, 20 April. Any backlog that may develop should be cleared by the following week’s scheduled collection day at the latest.
“If you are affected by refuse collection delays, recycling and composting can help save space in the bin,” the City of Cape Town said.
WHAT ABOUT DROP-OFF SITES?
The City of Cape Town said all drop-off sites will be closed on Good Friday, 18 April, and will operate according to public holiday hours over the Easter weekend, from 19 – 21 April, as well as 28 April and 1 May.
