Broos to QUIT Bafana next Tuesday if this scenerio happens

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has hinted at resigning from his post if his team fails to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 72-year-old has been at the helm since 2021 and during his three-year stay, he guided South Africa to the Afcon semi-finals. It was the first time that Bafana reached the last four of the continental showpiece since 2000.

Under Broos, Bafana have improved and only lost once this year. On Friday, another tough match awaits for the 1996 Afcon champions as they travel to Kampala to face Uganda.

Bafana needs just a win to secure qualification for the 2025 Afcon with two matches remaining but Broos said failure to get the job done will see him step down.

“It would be a little shame if we don’t qualify for [2025] Afcon. Honestly, we have the quality, we are bronze medalists,” he told the media.

“Can you imagine that the bronze medal of nine months ago can’t even qualify for the next Afcon? So, I’m not thinking about that because again, my confidence is big in this team, but we can’t. We can’t accept if we shouldn’t be qualified for Afcon.

Broos to step down from Bafana post if…

“If we lose both games, five minutes after the game I’m on the flight to Belgium. You can be sure of it,” Broos continued.

“If we can’t win, okay Uganda [away is tough], but at home against South Sudan, I tell you I’ll immediately take a flight, and you’ll never see me again,” he said.

Broos has named a strong 23-man Bafana squad to play Uganda and South Sudan in the qualifiers.
