Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat and Walter Musona have been rewarded for their excellence following the end of Zimbabwe’s 2024 PSL season.
Billiat had a season full of inspiration after switching back to Zimbabwe following his unceremonious departure from Kaizer Chiefs.
The 34-year-old was the headline performer for Yadah FC after scoring 13 goals in over 25 appearances for the team.
He, however, fizzled out of form during the last five games of the season and missed out on the Golden Boot. As such, he ended the season four goals shy of the eventual Golden Boot winner, Lynoth Chikuhwa of Highlanders FC.
On the other hand, former Polokwane City FC attacker Walter Musona had a sterling season for the 2024 league title winners, Simba Bhora.
Musona had 23 goal contributions for Simba Bhora throughout the season in 32 appearances. He scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists.
For the Zimbabwe national team, the former Kaizer Chiefs star, Billiat, scored one goal and provided one assist since coming out of retirement. Musona scored twice against The Brave Warriors of Namibia during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
KHAMA BILLIAT AND WALTER MUSONA VOTED AMONG ZIMBABWE’S 2024 PSL SEASON BEST PERFORMERS
The duo has been voted among the 2024 season’s best players. The former PSL stars headline a list of eleven players voted for by a panel of 102 selectors, which includes football writers, team captains and coaches from the 18 clubs.
“Khama Billiat is the first Yadah FC player ever to appear on the Soccer stars’ calendar. Congratulations, Khama Billiat,” reads the Yadah FC brief statement.
Ultimately, Musona is tipped to be the Player of the Season judging by the role he played in lifting Simba Bhora in their second PSL season.
The list also includes former Maritzburg United midfielder Blessing Moyo, who was a vital cog in Simba Bhora’s success. Goalkeeper Donovan Bernard, who had a brief spell at Tshakuma Tsha Madzivandila [TTM], is also on the list.
Automatically, Bernard is the Goalkeeper of the Season after keeping 20 clean sheets for Chicken Inn FC. The other players are the trio of Tymon Machope, Isheanesu Mauchi and Webster Tafa also from Simba Bhora. Striker Machope scored 11 goals, with 12 assists under his belt.
Dynamos’ Emmanuel Jalai and Highlanders FC’s Lynoth Chikuhwa made the cut into the final list. The duo of Godknows Murwira and Kingsley Mureremba complete the list. Meanwhile, Tonderai Ndiraya is poised to be the Coach of the Year for leading Simba Bhora to league title victory.
The Player of the Season award winner will be revealed at a Banquet to be held on 6 December in Harare.
Winners for the Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year and Referee of the Year will be revealed on the same day.
