Arsenal’s Global Player ID Lead, Andrew Moschini, is set to make waves in Durban. The renowned football talent scout will share insights into the club’s renowned scouting philosophy at an upcoming symposium.
Moschini, a leading authority on European football scouting and analysis, has played a pivotal role in identifying future stars for Arsenal. The 36-year-old will be a keynote speaker at the second symposium organised by SM Sports Consulting, scheduled for December 19-20.
The inaugural symposium, held in Gqeberha earlier this month, featured a stellar line-up of speakers, including ex-Kaizer Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral, Banyana Banyana legend Simphiwe Dludlu, Shawn Bishop, Rulani Mokwena of Wydad AC, Nene Reis, and Brandon Fourie. Each speaker shared their invaluable experiences and insights into the world of football.
MOSCHINI TO UNVEIL ARSENAL’S SCOUTING SECRETS
SM Sports director Sinesipho Mali confirmed that Moschini will be joining other international speakers at the Durban symposium.
“Andrew is a highly experienced international scout with a strong background in technology,” Mali told FARPost. “He has worked in Italy as a mechanical engineer before transitioning to football, holding key roles at Southampton and Arsenal.”
Mali believes Moschini’s visit will provide valuable insights into the South African football market. The Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana performance analyst believes bringing Moschini as a speaker is not only exciting for the analyst to educate others but also an opportunity for Moschini to gain a deeper understanding of the South African players’ market.
“Our vision is to ensure we close the gap between SA and the world. Help develop our players to get into the top five leagues,” Mali added.
Moschini’s talk will delve into the Arsenal way of scouting and explore the latest international scouting trends.
In 2019, after leaving Southampton, he was headhunted by Arsenal to work as an academy analyst. By 2021, he had been promoted to the senior team.
In 2024, he began working closely with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on global player identification.
