Former Orlando Pirates winger Lebohang ‘Cheesboy’ Mokoena says the club signing Oswin Appollis might be a good decision.
The 23-year-old Appollis have been linked to several clubs including Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and even Mamelodi Sundowns. The skillful winger has been one of the best players in the Betway Premiership these past two seasons for Polokwane City.
“You know, when it comes to Pirates, and things are not settled, you have players that are playing in that position [left-wing] that are misbehaving maybe and not doing the right things,” Mokoena said on the SoccerBeat YouTube podcast.
Cheeseboys says Appollis can be a good fit for Orlando Pirates
Mokoen believes Appollis could also be a good replacement for Relebohile Mofokeng who is tipped to move to Europe next season.
“Once players start being bigger than the club, that’s where they’ll make sure that they overload that position and bring in someone. The other possibility could be that Mofokeng is moving somewhere overseas; they would want to replace him as soon as possible and not wait until the last minute.
“With the misbehaving, I’m talking about Saleng and Maswanganyi. At Pirates, every season, I might be on my best form, but come mid-season, they’ll have a new winger. We were three or four in the same position,” Mokoena said as per FARPost.
Orlando Pirates are looking to add one or two players this transfer window and Appollis looks likely to be one of them. The team already signed Deano van Rooyen this season as well as Thalente Mbatha from SuperSport United.
