Marumo Gallants have been slapped with a FIFA ban for their failure to pay a foreign international who was NEVER on their books.
According to SABC Sport, Gallants have failed to comply with FIFA’s ruling to pay Mwape Musonda what’s due to him.
Musonda was on the books of Moroka Swallows when Gallants bought their topflight status at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Musonda, who hails from Zambia, spent two years with Swallows before his contract was prematurely terminated.
The publication reveals that Gallants agreed to inherit all of Swallows’ debts and agreements with players.
And while Swallows had been paying Musonda monthly towards settling their debt in the region of R3 million.
However, Gallants had not been complying with that arrangement, and Musonda took the matter to FIFA.
And FIFA ordered that Gallants pay Musonda but after several failures to do that, they have now slapped them with the ban.
The ban is effective immediately, and it will remain in place until Gallants have paid Musonda what’s due to him.
Gallants become the second PSL club to be banned from registering new players after Royal AM who could be docked points.
Royal AM owe former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic around R15 million. Nurkovic has since joined SuperSport United.

“In this context, it appears that, despite the decision [order to pay], Marumo Gallants FC has not yet complied with its financial obligations towards the Mwape Musonda,” reads part of FIFA’s letter to Gallants.
“In this regard, we wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players internationally has been implemented by FIFA on the respondent. The registration ban will remain active until the amount due is paid.”
