The ANC Youth League regional leader in KwaZulu-Natal is accused of destroying the structures at the Nokuhamba Nyawo Region under uMkhanyakude in the far north of KZN.

Makhosonke Maphanga is accused of targeting certain subregions in Mtubatuba and uMhlabuyalingana that were against his election during the regional elective congress.

“He is killing the ANCYL especially those that were against his election at the ANCYL Nokuhamba Nyawo Region. He is paying the revenge to those regions just because they never supported his election,” a source said.

Since Maphanga was elected to the regional structure he is facing criticism from those who were against the sitting of the elective congress.

They claim that the elective congress where Maphanga and others were elected was influenced by the deputy president of the ANCYL Phumzile Mgcina.

Others are even claiming that the quorum didn’t require the congress to elect leadership but the interference of the national structure led to the election of Maphanga and others.

The ANCYL in different KZN regions have been disbanded as part of the renewal that was announced by the provincial leadership.

The regional structure of the ANCYL at Nokuhamba Nyawo Region has been under controversy since they were elected.

Other leaders of the structure are accused of bullying municipalities under the ANC to hire them as most of the leaders are unemployed.

Several attempts to get hold of Maphanga were unsuccessful.
