The African National Congress (ANC) now holds several key positions in Tshwane’s city government, including finance, utility services, roads and transport, and housing. In total, the ANC has five positions, while the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and ActionSA hold two positions each, and the GOOD party has one.

Nasiphi Moya, the new Tshwane mayor, who took office after former mayor Cilliers Brink was ousted in a motion of no confidence, announced her mayoral committee on Sunday.

The ANC’s Palesa Modise will handle Community and Social Development Services, Eugene Modise will oversee Finance, and Aaron Maluleka will be responsible for Housing and Human Settlements. Tlangi Mogale takes charge of Roads and Transport, while Frans Boshielo manages Utility Services.

ActionSA’s Kholofelo Morodi is in charge of Corporate and Shared Services, and Sarah Mabotse from GOOD is the MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning. The EFF’s Obakeng Ramabodu will handle Environment and Agriculture Management, while Tshegofatso Mashabele will manage Health.

Moya emphasized the need for the new team to focus on providing essential services to residents. “The provision of quality services is not a matter of politics but of principle,” she said. Over the next two years, the team will prioritize service delivery, safety, economic development, infrastructure, and financial sustainability.

Former mayor Brink criticised the inclusion of the EFF, stating it is bad news for clean governance. “The DA warned ActionSA and ANC that their coalition would give the balance of power in the capital city to the EFF, and this is exactly what has happened,” he said, accusing the EFF of violence and chaos.
