TENDAI ‘THE BEAST’ MTAWARIRA ON THE ALL BLACKS

Retired Springbok Tendai “The Best” Mtawarira said that a Springboks clash against the All Blacks is always a special occasion. He expressed that he came up against the All Blacks more than 20 times and each time was tougher than the last

“I was lucky enough to come up against them 21 or 22 times in my career. As a Springbok, it’s something you look forward to. It’s a measuring stick to test just how good you are as a team. It helps you gauge where you sit on the rugby ladder as the All Blacks are the ultimate test,” he said to Showmax.

Mtawarira has been one of the very lucky few to get up close and personal with the All Blacks during their numerous encounters, as well as off the field enjoying an ice-cold beer together.

“They are gentlemen off the field, and I’ve never had a bad experience with any of the All Blacks on the field. We have mutual respect, and there is a great comradery between the two nations. On the field, we give our 110 percent to our respective teams, and then off the field, we are mates who drink a beer together and share a moment that is special,” he continued.
