Afrikaner tweep's post about Trump offer goes viral

A South African businesswoman’s tweet about taking up US President Donald Trump’s refugee status to Afrikaners has gone viral.

The tweet comes just days after the controversial statesman issued an executive order for white South Africans to be given asylum in America.

Over the past week, Trump and his SA-born advisor Elon Musk have accused the country of implementing “race-based discrimination” and “confiscating land’. This emanates from SA President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent signing of the Expropriation Act.

AFRIKANER BUSINESSWOMAN VOWS TO TAKE UP TRUMP’S OFFER

In a tweet, X user @romyblomkamp – an Afrikaner businesswoman – reacted to Donald Trump’s invitation.

She posted: “I’m going to surrender. All my family emigrated years ago to USA. Today, I didn’t tweet. I just read the vitriol. I’m hated in my own country simply for being born white, and I’m tired. I’m leaving”.

According to the tweep, her business employs 19 staff members, who would likely find themselves unemployed.

She added: “They don’t deserve to be without jobs. They’re good people living honest lives”.

The tweet had close to half a million views and over a 1000 comments.

With regards to Trump’s asylum offer, she added: “I’m not sure how the refugee process would work. Will we be placed in a specific location or do we have a choice in the matter? It’s scary”.

In another tweet addressed to Americans, the tweep claimed that Afrikaners would “repay your generosity and aid tenfold”.

ACTION SA’S HERMAN MASHABA CLAPS BACK

The woman’s tweet was met with mixed reactions from South Africans and even Americans, some of whom sympathasied with the Afrikaner community.

Some agreed that they would also be relocating to the US.

Others urged the woman to leave her country of “oppression” and seek “greener pastures” abroad.

Action SA leader Herman Mashaba was one of them, who responded: “I can only say in sincerity, safe travels”.

Last week, Mashaba called out Trump over his “reckless remarks” of imposing sanctions and offering Afrikaners asylum over “fake news and mischaracterisation of events engineered by traitors of our country.”
