Excitement is in the air ahead of the eagerly awaited birth of former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh and her husband, Tim Tebow’s daughter.

After announcing their pregnancy earlier this year, the former pageant model and pro athlete have been embracing the journey to parenthood with each identifying special traits they feel will make the other the perfect parent.

Demi has been living in America for nearly a decade now. She relocated to New York soon after winning the Miss Universe pageant where she eventually met Tim. By 2020 the two officially exchanged their vows and said their “I do’s” are now one step closer to starting their own family.

With Demi being an Afrikaans-speaking South African and Tim, an English American, most would assume that their soon-to-be-born daughter will reap the benefits of being bilingual. However, the Miss South Africa 2017 winner recently hinted that this might not be the case.

In a recent interview with US Weekly, Demi-Leigh promoted the release of her book titled, Princess Paris Finds Her Purpose.

She later engaged in a conversation surrounding her personal life and the addition of a new family member. When asked whether the baby will be speaking multiple languages, she said:

“My first language is Afrikaans, which sounds a little Dutch/German – but Tim doesn’t speak Afrikaans.

She added that while her husband Tim has picked up on certain phrases she feels it might be wrong to speak in a language he does not fully understand.

“I definitely want to teach her some words, but I think it would be sad to have a conversation with her and not have Tim included. So that is something I am cognisant of.”

While she is still considering whether or not she will be teaching their daughter a few Afrikaans phrases, she hinted that there was no doubt that her parents will be making use of the opportunity share some more Afrikaans phrases.
