CUT OFF OPERATION UNDERWAY IN JOHANNESBURG INNER CITY
City Power Johannesburg, in collaboration with Joburg Water, is disconnecting electricity on non-compliant businesses in the inner city with the #CutOffOperation.
“This operation aims to enforce compliance, recover outstanding revenue and ensure the sustainability of essential services,” said City Power.
City Power’s General Manager, Arsenio Cossa, said that they were visiting the properties they disconnected a few weeks back but ended up reconnecting themselves again illegally.
“We’ve started with number one we have got Johannesburg Hotel and that we have successfully disconnected and removed our equipment. Now we are here also disconnecting this property (pointing behind him) and we are removing our equipment here,” said Cossa.
In other related news, a building owingCity Power more than R6 million was disconnected in Fortesque Road, Yeoville. City Power said that failure to pay for electricity services will result in disconnection.
