Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly looking to sign Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo Sithole.

His agent Manuel Tomas told FARPost that the Soweto giants have inquired about the Portuguese-based midfielder. Sithole was one of the stars for Bafana in last year’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), helping his country finish third.

Sithole is currently on loan at Portuguese Primeira Liga club Gil Vicente. He recently returned to training following a lengthy injury he suffered whilst on international duty for Bafana Bafana.

Kaizer Chiefs eyeing another Bafana Bafana midfielder

“In December, yes, we received some calls from the club [Chiefs],” Tomas told FARPost.

“We don’t know [what’s going to happen], but it’s football. But we don’t have an official offer from Chiefs for Sithole.

“It was just the talks with the club and the people from the club, but they haven’t made an official offer,” he said.

Sithole is currently on loan from second-tier side CD Tondela and if Kaizer Chiefs want to sign the midfielder, they will have to make an offerto the club .

“When the loan ends, we don’t know the future,” Sithole’s agent said. “As he recovers from the injury, when he’s 100%, the future will guide us. We will not force nothing,” he concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs have already signed another Bafana Bafana star this past transfer window. Thabo Cele has impressed having left Europe for Amakhosi and is currently the club’s best player. Amakhosi return to action this coming weekend against Golden Arrows in a Betway Premiership clash.

Should Chiefs splash their money of Sithole or stick with Thabo Cele and Mdu Chabalala in the midfield?
